​Existing virtual try-on experiences often rely on generic avatars and manual measurements, leading to fit inaccuracies and a less immersive experience.

Problem Identification

To augment the virtual try-on experience and optimize user targeting, this app aims to enhance the process by leveraging LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology. By implementing advanced 3D body scanning techniques, the solution enables precise measurements and an authentic representation of each individual, going beyond the conventional approach of recommending the closest avatar from a pre-existing dataset.

With the ability to scan a wider range and capture an extensive amount of data about the surrounding environment, LiDAR systems excel at detecting objects even when obstructed by other elements. This enhanced range and scanning capability empower LiDAR to precisely identify objects positioned both in front of and behind obstacles, surpassing traditional detection methods.


LiDAR scanning technology and its development on mobile phones will provide the apparel industry with the precise tool to measure and design different types of apparel and provide the market segment with the right fitting clothing. Optimum utilization of this technology will create a drastic change in the fashion industry and in the way apparel shopping is done now. In this research, the proposed platform has the potential to make a positive change in the apparel industry. It is an effective strategy for enhancing customer experience and satisfaction and minimizing inventory costs and returns. However, the ultimate success of LiDAR 3D Body Scanning technology depends on the consumers' acceptance and application of the process. The customers’ acceptance depends on the look and finish of the final 3D scan, his awareness of the technology, and accessibility of these applications.
